Philip Ward - Pilates Instructor

Philip was born in Tonbridge, Kent in the UK. As a boy he studied Martial Arts including, Judo, Tae Kwon Do and Wing Chun. He received a Bachelor of Science and Economics in Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Wales Swansea.
Realising that the body also has an integral role to play in health and healing, he then went on to study two years of Osteopathy at UNITEC in Auckland, New Zealand. He was deeply affected by two essential tenets of Osteopathy; that ‘form governs function’ and that the body has the ‘intrinsic ability to heal itself’.
He brought with him this interest in body work when he took a place on the acting programme at Toi Whakaari, New Zealand Drama School. Further wishing to integrate the Mind/Body alliance and its role in spontaneity and creativity, he is also integrating Psychodramatic training and methods into his work.
Philip sees Joseph Pilates’ idea of mindful, whole body movement as essential to everyone’s vitality and well-being. Consequently, he is training to achieve his Polestar Pilates instructor qualification to further his skill base and knowledge.
